The Rule of Thirds
Def: A technique used to determine placement of a composition. There is an imaginary grid drawn with two horizontal and two vertical lines equally spaced apart. If subjects fall at intersections or on these imaginary lines it is thought the end product (be it picture, painting, or placement of decorative objects) will be more interesting and aesthetically pleasing.
